A natural landscape garden that you create is something that you and your family will surely enjoy. The design you choose can be as unique, tranquil, or modern as you wish and the material and plant life can be of a large variety. Even though hiring a professional landscape designer is the easiest way to get the design done, it is also the most expensive way. Designing your own personal landscape garden on your own or with the help of family or even friends can be fun and very rewarding experience.

Aside from the normal plant life and grass that is used in landscaping, the use of other features like rock can add a special personal touch or uniqueness to your design. These landscape materials can give your garden a nice design contrast, and there is quite a large variety to choose from. Stone material can be anything from boulders, field stone, rocks, slate, and even brick can fall under the classification. All these materials do have there own specific use and you should understand them before you choose.

Stone can be used to build pathways throughout your gardens. These stones that are walked on need to be level or smooth, brick, some field stone and slate are usually use for this purpose. Going beyond walkways, the placement of larger boulder type rocks through out the garden create a focal point that draws attention to a specific location or as a marker to draw attention to a specific feature.

>

Rocks don’t only have to be used as a single accent point, they can also be used to build a rock garden. It doesn’t have to be a large area, choice a small section of your garden and place a few rock in an uneven pattern. Once you have them in place, backfill between then with some good garden soil and place others on top, terracing them back as you stack them. Once you have them in place to your desired height you can plant between the remaining rock that is exposed. Small rock gardens are a great way to add a unique feature and personal touch to your primary garden.

Get creative, put some thought into your design and create a natural landscape garden that you will enjoy to spend time in, along with the wildlife it can attract. Don’t forget, you can place a rock in a location that has a view you enjoy just to sit on and relax.

A environment friendly and healthy way of gardening. Organic Gardening is away of gardening in harmony with nature. Growing a healthy and productive crop in a way that is healthier for both you and the environment.

Sussex, in the south east of England has a plethora of attractive public landscaped gardens for horticulturists to enjoy. In this article, I will detail 3 of the best (in no particular order).

Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens

Grade I listed Leonardslee rests in a valley complete with 7 meandering lakes and comprises 240 acres. Many types of flowers including Magnolias, Azaleas, Camellias and Rhododendrons are on display here.

With its miniature model Victorian town and Victorian motor car exhibit, Leonardslee is also a great place to bring the (grand)kids for an enjoyable day out.

Admission costs £9 on weekends and Bank Holidays, £8 on week days and £6.50 at all other times. Children can gain entry for the paltry sum of £4.

Sheffield Park Garden

Centrepieced by 4 lakes from the original plot, Sheffield Park Landscaped Garden features bluebells and daffodils in the spring, rhododendrons and azaleas in summer. In autumn the place is spectacular with its natural colours from the seemingly endless trees and plants.

Prices at Sheffield Park Garden change rather frequently so it is impossible to give an accurate idea of cost, however, at time of writing, an adult ticket will set you back £7.70 and it is £3.85 for Children. Family tickets cost £19.25.

Nymans

Much smaller and more intimate than the previous 2 gardens mentioned above, however this place is a gem.

The gardens are set in the grounds of a family mansion partially destroyed in 1947 by a massive fire. Despite the destruction, 5 of the family rooms are still open to the public. The walled section of the garden plays host to a number of beautiful and rare plants and flowers from all over the world.

For those hot summers days there is a licensed pavilion so you can take in the views over 7 or 8 gin and tonics and a hamburger.

Tickets, again, at the time of writing, cost £8.50 for an adult, £4.30 for children and a family ticket will set you back £21.

The most obvious place you would think to start turning your lawn or gardens into a natural landscape is in the areas where grass isn’t growing or do well, places like shaded areas, wet areas, steep slopes that are hard to work and rock outcroppings. These are are all good places for some type of alternative plantings, but you still to do some more research before you can develop a plan that will work for you, you can’t just start planting.

Once you have some areas in mind, put a list of plants that you would like to see grown in those areas, research them and make sure they are appropriate for your area, and most important is to start out with small sections of those areas, don”t try to do everything at once. Expanding your gardens as they grow and you can see the end product is a lot less work and less expensive than finding out nothing is working the way you thought.

When choosing plants for you natural landscape, select from limited number of plant varieties and incorporate groundcover plants into your design. Layout what you are trying to accomplish and don’t be afraid to plant in small bunches or clusters, this is know as “drifts”.If you look at the way nature grows plants in the wild, they are not uniform, you want that natural look.

When designing your gardens, incorporate the existing walkways, pavement, shrubs and trees that exist in your yard as a part of your new gardens. Existing trees and shrubs can simply be landscaped around with some simple groundcover.

The adding of a natural look to a formal yard that has lot of open space because of plants that have been strategically placed can be accomplished easily by creating areas of flowering perennials, grouped together and adding some ornamental grasses into your design. This look can even be accomplished when trees have been grown in a line along a property line by grouping plants together in a free flowing, wavy or uneven appearance along the property line. This even works well in front of a fence.

Your imagination is the limit when it come to a natural landscape. Whatever you choose to create, don’t remove existing native plants from the wild and transplant them as a part of your landscape. Some of the plants you take may be ones that are endangered. When moved they may not survive and causing them to become one more step closer to extinction, along with harming the existing ecosystem they came from.

There is so much you can do when creating a natural landscape garden and the attraction of wildlife like birds and butterflies is just a couple of enjoyable sites to see.

A environment friendly and healthy way of gardening. Organic Gardening is away of gardening in harmony with nature. Growing a healthy and productive crop in a way that is healthier for both you and the environment.

Water shortages in dry climates are forcing home gardeners and professional landscapers to reduce the area of the garden taken up by the lawn. The trouble is that nothing that can replace a lawn in the field in which a lawn works. Young children cannot play as safely on hard paving, you can’t really play soccer on wooden decking, and it’s hardly practical to lie down on a bed of ground cover plants, as one would on grass.

Yet a garden whose area is 90% grass, is as unviable as it is unsustainable in dry and semi arid regions such as the Mediterranean, much of the American west, Australia, South Africa, and the Middle East. The only way forward is to rethink the garden’s design concept, by moving away from large open spaces, to smaller, more intimate ones. Here are some means by which the problem can be approached.

Enlarging the Shrubberies

The width of the shrub and bush border can be enlarged at the expense of the lawn. The usual habit of planting shrubs in a thin line at the lawn’s edge, results in a lack of proportion between the two spaces. A wider border on the other hand, creates more depth and perspective. Most shrubs can be grown consuming at least a quarter of the water required by grass, and some plants such as Junipers, Leucophylum, or Pistachio, on a lot less. Think of the saving when the 50cm strip at the lawn’s edge is replaced with a bold space some 2 meters wide.

Designing with Ground Cover Plants

Water conserving plants of prostrate habit can form a transition area between the lawn and the shrub border. These can create a satisfying link to the trees and shrubs, especially if their leaf texture is similar to that of the tall plants. For example, Asparagus densiflorus “Sprengerii”, associates beautifully with Junipers, Melaleucas, and other thin-leaved bushes. Low-growing species of Cotoneaster combine well with roses and other shrubs and trees from the rose family, such as apple, plum, hawthorn, and pyrocantha. Transition areas of ground covers could reduce lawn space by over 20%.

Adding Seating Areas

Adding a seating area of decorative paving stones or wood decking brings different parts of the garden together, and makes for a more interesting and usable space, than the patio, lawn, border formula of the common suburban plot. A seating or paved area is of course a space that consumes no water.

What about Artificial Grass?

Simply replacing the lawn with fake grass, however convincing the new products are in visual terms, is not likely to achieve satisfying results in the long term, mainly because plastic cannot replace either the smell or touch of grass. However, artificial turf could be a satisfactory medium in a highly stylized, contemporary, garden design, which is minimalistic, austere, and angular in character.

It is important that you think about what you would like to do when considering having the landscaping your Tampa garden done. When it comes to landscaping Tampa gardens the first thing you should have set firmly in your mind is how much you are willing to spend on the project.

Ideally one should spend time planning out every aspect of the project to ensure that you can work to the constraints of your budget more effectively. Also you should employ a Tampa landscaping service that is willing to carry out the project you have in mind within the guidelines that you set them.

Also when planning out your landscaping budget you can then determine if you can actually afford to get the work done immediately or will have to wait some time to get certain parts of the project done at a later date. Then once you have set your budget you must make sure that you actually stick to it.

When you are planning out your landscaping budget you need to be aware of some of the hidden costs that you will be faced with after the work has been completed. In this article we look at just what some of these hidden costs can be.

Lighting – Although you may want to have additional lighting in your garden it is important to think about how much it will cost you to run it once installed. There are certain things which one can do to ensure that the cost of your lighting does not become too much once installed. Certainly a great way of avoiding high electrical bills is to have solar powered lighting put into your garden.

If however you decide to go for lighting that is runs of the main electricity supply to your home then make sure you do the following and only turn it on when required. Say when you are having people round on a summer’s evening and will be spending time in the garden. Plus install the energy saving light bulbs in them.

Water Consumption – Yes having a water feature is wonderful but there are plenty of hidden costs associated with having them installed. The hidden costs that you need to think about if considering having such a feature in your garden is the electricity that will be needed to run it and how much more water you will be using on top of what you use normally in your home.

Certainly if you live in a part of Tampa where usage of water is charged for when you have used a certain amount this could prove to be even more costly. Quite a number of people think that having a water feature is wonderful when planning out a new design for their garden landscape. But then find afterwards that they can?t actually afford to run it.

So when you are thinking about having your garden re-landscaped you need to taken into consideration the hidden costs we have mentioned above. If you don’t factor these in when devising your landscaping Tampa garden budget then you may find that once installed you can actually use them.
